Rule 35(c): a sailing vessel underway shall sound, at intervals of not more than two minutes, three blasts in succession: one prolonged followed by two short blasts. This signal is also used by vessels not under command, restricted in their ability to manoeuvre, constrained by their draught, engaged in fishing, or engaged in towing or pushing another vessel. Anchored vessels normally use the signals prescribed in Rule 35(g). Under Rule 35(d), vessels engaged in fishing at anchor and vessels restricted in their ability to manoeuvre when carrying out their work at anchor sound the Rule 35(c) signal instead.

When practicable, this signal shall be made immediately after the signal made by the towing vessel.
