    Privacy Policy

    1. Who we are

Amidships is a trading name of The Maritime Consultancy Ltd (Company No. 13436865), a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Amidships app.

    2. What we collect

When you create an account we store your email address, an optional display name, your chosen exam level, optional exam date, and study progress (questions answered, accuracy, streak, memory drill review state). When you submit a support ticket, we collect your browser UserAgent string to help diagnose technical issues. Support tickets and school inquiry forms are sent to our admin team via email. We do not collect payment card details directly. Payments are processed by Stripe.

    3. How we use it

Your data is used to operate the service: tracking progress, computing readiness scores, scheduling spaced-repetition memory drills, and showing you focus areas. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your study data to train third-party AI models.

    4. AI Oral Examiner

When you use the AI Oral Examiner, your spoken answers are transcribed in your browser and sent (as text) to our backend, which forwards them to a third-party large language model provider (currently Google, via the Lovable AI Gateway) to generate the next question. Conversations are not stored long-term beyond what’s needed to maintain the session. Voice audio is not retained.

    4.5 Support and school inquiries

When you submit a support ticket or a school inquiry form, your message and contact details are sent to our operations team ( support@amidships.app or schools@amidships.app). We use this information solely to respond to your request.

    5. Where data is stored

Account data and progress are stored in our managed backend (Lovable Cloud, powered by Supabase). Data is hosted in the EU/UK region where available.

    6. Cookies and storage

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your theme and onboarding preferences. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

    7. Your rights (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us via the email in the app. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which removes your stored progress.

    8. Children

Amidships is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

    9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date above.

    10. Contact
