Under Rule 30(b), a vessel of less than 50m in length may exhibit one all-round white light where it can best be seen instead of the two lights prescribed by Rule 30(a). A 45m vessel may therefore display a single all-round white anchor light. Alternatively, she may display an all-round white light in the fore part and another at or near the stern at a lower level.

Anchor lights plus two all-round red lights in a vertical line. Rule 30(d): a vessel aground shall exhibit the anchor lights prescribed by Rule 30(a) or (b), plus two all-round red lights in a vertical line where they can best be seen. By day, she shall exhibit three balls in a vertical line, not an additional anchor ball. Under Rule 30(f), vessels of less than 12 metres need not exhibit the additional aground lights or shapes. In restricted visibility, Rule 35(g) requires rapid ringing of the bell for about five seconds at intervals of not more than one minute, preceded and followed by three separate and distinct bell strokes. Vessels of 100 metres or more must also sound the gong rapidly for about five seconds in the after part of the vessel immediately after the bell signal. Vessels of less than 20 metres may instead make some other efficient sound signal at intervals of not more than two minutes, as provided by Rule 35(i) and (j).

One BLACK BALL, where it can best be seen, during the day. At night: all-round white light(s) as prescribed by Rule 30(a). Vessels under 7m are not required to show the ball (Rule 30(e)) when not in or near a narrow channel, fairway, anchorage, or where other vessels normally navigate.
