What's free
SRC radio revision and the full Day Skipper theory bank. Questions, explanations, drills and written mocks.
Amidships Youth
Empowering the next generation of sailors.
Young sailors learn the basics and Day Skipper theory here, free, for good. A checked group shares one code. Leaders get a free account too.
Who it's for
Under-18s at an RYA OnBoard club, Sea Cadet unit, Sea Scout group, school or sail-training charity.
How a code works
We check the group, then send the leader a code. Sailors join with that code. Places and an end date are set by us.
Request a group code
Tell us who you are. We check the group, then email the leader a code. No payment.
Paid plans
The free place is only through a group code from the organisation. Coastal Skipper, Yachtmaster and the other paid plans can be added later on the same account. Voice and AI chat follow the plan that was paid for.
Questions
What is free?
The basics, including SRC radio revision, and the full Day Skipper theory bank. Quizzes, memory drills and written mock papers for those levels are included. It stays free.
What is not included?
Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster theory stay paid. So do Master 200gt, the full STCW bank, and engine courses. A paid plan can be added on the same account. Voice and AI chat then follow that plan. Until then, a youth account is questions and quizzes.
Who can get a code?
A checked club, Sea Cadet unit, Sea Scout group, school or sail-training charity. RYA OnBoard clubs are welcome. The group leader gets a free account too.
How do sailors join?
Ages 13 to 17 sign up with the group code, a nickname and their date of birth. Under 13s are added by the leader or a parent, with a nickname and no email.
Do you email young sailors offers?
No. Youth accounts are not on the marketing list, and product analytics stays off.
Privacy and safeguarding
We keep as little as we can. A nickname is enough. No location, no profiling, no marketing email. The plain-language notice and the safeguarding statement are here.
